About us

Gathered Around the Fire, Wrapped in Forest

Living room with a fire burning in the brick fireplace, under a wood-paneled ceiling

Noël Hakone Chimney is a private vacation rental villa designed around the hours spent gathered by the fireplace.

In this house, standing in the forest of Ninotaira in Hakone, the view outside and the air within settle gently into one another.
Watch the flames waver, breathe in the scent of firewood, and something in you loosens—without your having to do anything at all.

A free-flowing hot spring bath, a deck open to the trees, a sauna and a jacuzzi.
Not one of them was made to send you out. Each was made to keep you here a little longer.

Surrounded by forest, gathered around the fire, unhurried by the clock.
Noël Hakone Chimney is an inn that holds those quiet, ordinary moments dear.

Experience

Fireplace

When the fire is lit, the air in the room shifts, just slightly.

Flames sway, and the soft sound of burning wood carries quietly across the room. No television, no music—simply being here is enough for the hours to settle.

Before the fire, one guest reads, another talks, another simply drifts. Doing something, doing nothing at all—somehow, neither feels out of place.

As the night deepens, you find you have lost track of time, still watching the flames. Now and then, a journey spent this way may be exactly right.

Sauna / Jacuzzi

On the wooden deck, encircled by forest, stand a barrel sauna and a jacuzzi. Warm yourself in the scent of the wood, then step out into the open air.

Breathe deeply as the wind moves between the trees, and your thoughts grow quiet—everything settling back into place on its own.

Please enjoy a sauna and jacuzzi with the presence of the forest close enough to feel.

BBQ

The wooden deck of roughly 70 m² is yours for a barbecue.

The grill is a gas-fired Weber. No firewood or charcoal to prepare, and no time lost coaxing the coals to life.

Grill in the forest air, and gather around the table.

It is effortless, and still keeps every bit of the pleasure of eating outdoors.

By day in the bright green of the woods, by night wrapped in still air—please take your time over it.

Rooms

Living

Living room under a wood-paneled ceiling, warmed by the fireplace

A living room lined in wood to the ceiling and softened by warm lighting. Beyond the wide windows lie the deck and the forest, so the outdoors stays close even from indoors.

Talk from the sofa, share a meal around the table—everyone in the same room, each in their own way.

With the fireplace at its center, resting, eating, and gathering flow naturally into one another.

Bedroom / 2 rooms

Bedroom with two beds and a small desk beside the window

There are two bedrooms. Both are quietly furnished, letting the grain of the wood speak, and both are made for resting the body at the end of the day.

Soft light through the windows and the presence of the forest beyond keep you company, morning and night. The lighting is restrained, the colors kept simple—arranged so that deep sleep comes of its own accord.

Whether you travel with family or with friends, these are rooms where each of you can keep a little time of your own.

Japanese style room / also serves as a bedroom

Tatami room with a low table and floor cushions

Soft underfoot, the tatami room is a flexible space that can also be used as a bedroom.

Hours spent sitting on the mats, nights spent on futons laid out across them—either way, the room settles you.

Rest here at your leisure, in a stillness particular to a Japanese home and quite unlike a room with beds.

Bathroom

Towada stone bathtub filled with hot spring water beside a garden window

The bathtub is hewn from Towada stone and fed with free-flowing hot spring water. The gentle touch of the stone and the quiet sound of water pouring in bring a calm to the room.

The tub is wide enough for four or five to bathe at once. With room to spare, you can talk together or soak in your own quiet—taking as long as you like.

Kitchen

Kitchen in warm wood with a stainless counter and a window onto the trees

Finished in warm wood, the kitchen is calm to look at and considered in its ease of use. There is generous counter space, so several people can cook together without crowding.

It opens comfortably onto the living and dining areas, so the conversation carries while your hands stay busy.

Exterior

A Private Villa That Slips Quietly Into the Forest

Noël Hakone Chimney stands deep in the woods, as though dissolving into them.

All around are the presence of trees and a great stillness. What you hear and what you see are limited to what nature has put there.

Step out of the car, and the sounds and rhythms of the city—so ordinary until a moment ago—quietly fall away. Simply being in this place turns the pace of the day gentle.
