About us

By day, be captivated by the vibrant greens and the shimmering blue of Lake Ashi.
By night, lose yourself in the magical reflection of starlight dancing on the water.

Looking up through the double-height windows and skylight toward Lake Ashi

Tucked away in the majestic mountains of Hakone, Noël Hakone Skylight offers a one-of-a-kind stay that begins the moment you look up through the skylight to see Lake Ashi glistening in the distance. Set on an expansive 4,000 m² property, the 200 m² residence has been completely transformed through a year-long renovation—a personal pursuit by the owner, who fell in love with the surrounding landscape and made it his mission to create the ideal retreat.

The spacious 200 m² wooden deck offers panoramic views of Hakone’s seasonal beauty and is equipped for BBQs under the open sky. Outside, enjoy the ultimate reset with a Nordic-style barrel sauna. After a deep, slow sweat, unwind in the jacuzzi under a blanket of stars. Indoors, relax in a refined bath made with traditional Towada stone and enjoy a semi-natural hot spring for a truly serene experience.

Experience

Sauna

Tucked away in a corner of the property is a Nordic-style barrel sauna.
As the soft steam of löyly rises, your breath finds its rhythm and your mind begins to let go.

After a deep, slow sauna session, step out onto the wooden deck and surrender yourself to the starlit sky in the open-air jacuzzi.
With only the sounds of the forest and sky around you, what you feel goes beyond words—an experience that redefines what it means to truly unwind.

Skylight View

Perched high on one of Hakone’s most scenic ridges, the villa boasts a rare and breathtaking view.
From the skylight in the living room, you’ll spot the quiet shimmer of Lake Ashi far in the distance.

Step onto the balcony and take in the rustling trees that wrap around you from all sides.
With no artificial lights or signage in sight, you're surrounded entirely by nature—yours to embrace in silence and solitude.

BBQ

Grill beneath the wide-open sky on the spacious wooden deck.
You're surrounded by trees swaying gently in the breeze and clouds drifting across the horizon, seemingly close enough to touch.

In the golden afternoon light, the scent of charcoal fills the air as the sound of sizzling food lulls you into relaxation.
It’s more than just a meal—it’s a way to connect with nature, right at your table.

Rooms

Living

The moment you step into the living room, your eyes are drawn upward.
The high ceiling opens to a skylight, where light pours in, revealing drifting clouds—and beyond them, the outline of Lake Ashi.

This isn’t a room for doing—it’s a space that holds meaning simply by being.

Balcony

The expansive 200 m² deck offers unobstructed views of Hakone’s changing seasons.
Before you, a lush gradient of greenery. Above, an endless sky.

Sip your morning coffee to birdsong, or let the night breeze carry your thoughts in silence.
This balcony gently reminds you: true comfort lies in doing nothing at all.

Bedroom

Each bedroom reveals its own personality as night falls.
One Western-style room, wrapped in gentle wood tones, radiates quiet warmth.
Another, with traditional tatami flooring, carries a nostalgic stillness the moment you step inside.

These rooms are at their best after sundown, inviting you to drift into deep, uninterrupted sleep.

Other Spaces

At the top of the stairs lies a long, narrow space with a simple wooden table and chairs—like a reading nook tucked into the back of an old bookstore.

Sit and look up. There, through the skylight, Lake Ashi unfolds quietly beneath you.

Exterior

Floating Among the Trees, a Deck that Touches the Sky

The first thing you'll notice is the expansive wooden deck—an iconic symbol of the villa.
Filled with the warmth of wood and a sense of openness, it feels as though it leads directly into the sky.

Look around, and you’re surrounded by lush greenery in every direction.
There’s hardly a man-made element in sight—the height of the sky and the path of the wind are yours to feel.

The view and the air itself will remind you just how high up you are.
Even the moments of doing nothing will leave a lasting impression.
